Tosca - Delhi9
Richard Dorfmeister and his more permanent partner in crime, Rupert Huber are back with a beautiful downtempo album and companion disc. Delhi9 is taking over as his full-time project and he's putting out some very interesting music. This album (2 discs) consists of one CD of the normal downtempo style music that you would expect from Tosca but the second disc is full of piano movements that are just barely there. It's a quiet listen and most fans may just take it as a disposable offering. With tracks called "Slow Hell" and "Schwimmer" and even simpler titles like "Song" and "Ping" one can't really expect much but I found it to provide some very nice background music. The discs are far from compatible; they should have probably been released as separate offerings. Let's look more at the first disc. Tosca brings in vocalists like Anna Clementi, Tweed, Stephan Graf Hadik Wildner, Earl Zinger and Sugar B. The music is a little more upbeat than some of their past offerings, with more vocal content and not quite as much dub. Oh, the dub stuff is still there but not as prominent. It's the two tracks with vocals by Anna Clementi that really stand out ("Oscar" and "Me + Yoko Ono"). I know the whole downtempo market has been flooded the last couple of years but you have let Dorfmeister have a chance to get into your collection. He is one of the masters of the genre and whatever he ends up doing is totally
