Timo Maas - Loud
Along with Paul Oakenfold, Timo Maas is a DJ that is turning to doing their own original music. This may not seem a far cry from what they do but you have to think the way a DJ thinks. Usually a DJ takes someone elses music and turns it into their own by tweaking it a certain way. In the case of original material though they have nothing to start with. They are, in essence making something from nothing. Timo Maas does a great job and sticks to his DJ style in order to make a very cool and invigorating album full of great beats and driving grooves. He turns for help on a couple of tracks: Kelis joins Timo on “Help Me, the album’s opening track, MC Chickaboo is on “Shifter, Martin Bettinghaus is on a couple of tracks and Finley Quaye lends his trademark vocals to “Caravan. He is entering the trance arena with a couple tracks here but doesn’t rely on it throughout the album. Timo Maas should consider Loud a success and other DJ’s will most likely take these tracks and turn them into their own. A complete turn of events.
