The infamouse Buzzcocks are back for more angst and punk rock fun. It's really strange to think that this sort of music was cutting edge and pushing the borders of music back in the late 70s. Throughout the 80s there were many rumors that the band was going to reunite and in 1989 they came to fruition. Well, somewhat with Steve Shelley and Steve Diggle being the only founding members. They have been putting out an album here and there but it seems that they have a newfound passion with this self-titled album. The album kicks off with a blazing track called "Jerk" that restores your faith in the band. "Keep On" follows that one up with a little more pop sense to it but they are back into it with "Wake Up Call". I couldn't really find a song that I didn't like. My only issue with this Buzzcocks album is the production values. It just seems like it's lacking something. It's a very small complaint because I really enjoyed the album otherwise. While no replacement for the classic "Singles Going Steady" compilation, the Buzzcocks is a fine album that may find some new, younger fans and also appeal to fans of their past material.
