The influence that New York's Dead Boys had on punk rock cannot be understated. They were one of the angriest and most violent punk bands to ever surface in the late 70's. Lead vocalist Stiv Bators took on an Iggy Pop persona and livened up the show with the simple but innovative 3-chord punk. It was this album, Young Loud & Snotty that made the band a legend. They tried to follow up the angry brilliance that they found on their debut but let everyone down including themselves. The Dead Boys originated from Cleveland but it wasn't until they relocated to NYC that they achieved success. This album is more than just angry chords and vocals being spewed out though. There is talent on this album like no other punk band before them. This is why so many in the genre looked up to the Dead Boys and why their name still gets dropped when bands are talking about their influences. The aggressive "Sonic Reducer" is more than the album opener. You could consider this a song defining the CBGB's punk crowd. It's hard to imagine a punk band showing as much heart as "Not Anymore". It's a total Stooges style track but even grittier. Young Loud & Snotty is more than an album name; it's The Dead Boys motto and one that they live up to on the album. The is an essential album in not only a definitive punk collection but a rock collection as well.

AH, The Dead Boys. Complete hardcore legends hailing from my home town of Cleveland, Ohio. Amazing artistry and solid songwriting skills makes this hard to ignore. Even though the band only put out one good album, it is an album that deserves to be put in the vault ad taught to future punkers as the staple of punk rock and they should study it on how to do punk rock right.
