Out of all the Deep Elm catalog, most bands fit into some sort of a post-hardcore emo category. Settlefish fit into this description quite nicely. They are a newer band that is based in Italy with a Canadian lead singer fronting the band. Jonathan Clancy has a voice that suits this sound. It's one of those angry voices that is on the verge of cracking at any time. He never gets too aggressive to the point of screaming. He comes close but never really crosses the line. The band has a similar sound to that os Sparta with a little more aggression. Unique song titles like "Artificial Synapse" and "Camouflage Iris" may stand out enough to get Settlefish noticed. There are many people out there that will fall in love with the sound that they have. I wouldn't say that Settlefish is one of Deep Elm's stronger bands but they do show some promise in the post-rock arena.
