It seems like Emperor Norton has been throwing the music to the wall and seeing what sticks lately. There have been some real disappointments come from the label (see Codex & Flexor) but they are known for some pretty suave acts like Arling and Cameron. Ralph Myerz is about to change that. Him and his Jack Herren Band have come up with a sexy electro-lounge album that fills in the holes where other Emperor Norton acts have missed out on. In actual fact, Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herron band is a lengthy name for the trio of DJ Erlend Sellevold, Thomas Lonnheim and Tarjei Strom. The blend a nice mix of loungey beats with a electro-pop sound not unlike what Dzihan and Kamien have managed to do. The group had some underground success with a couple of their 7"s and Emperor Norton offered to put out this compilation of their songs. It is the follow-up to their Special EP. While Special Album is not going to break any barriers in the world of electronic music, it is going to allow many people to groove to some fun, laid back beats. Listen to "Nikita", one of the albums strongest tracks for proof of this.
