The New Breed are a fairly new punk band to surface from non-punk centric, Halifax Nova Scotia. Don't confuse them with the band of the same name from California back in the 80's. This is a band that lives in the old-school frame of mind, which may be a good thing or not depending on where you stand. They try to do a little along the lines of what the Dropkick Murphys are doing by mixing punk rock with a taste of Celtic music. They do just as good a job with their energy and creativity although some may look upon The New Breed as a copycat band. It doesn't matter because there is room for punk bands of this calibre in pretty much any territory. As long as you can rock out and have a good time, gaining fans along the way, you will succeed. Port City Rebels is an EP that will gain some fans, not a ton, but increase the bands exposure. Have a listen to the album closer called "Me & The Boys", complete with mandolin, and you will see just what fun The New Breed can have. Raise a pint and sing along.
