Slow Coming Day is an emo band coming from Huntington Beach, CA and has already secured a deal with Tooth & Nail records. This is quite impressive seeing that the band had only contributed a couple of songs to a few compilations including the influential Deep Elm Emo Diaries. Farewell To The Familiar is Slow Coming Day's debut album and it's a great listen for such a young band. The four members have only been together since early 2001 and had a couple of line-up changes since but have now found dedicated members that should take this band places. There is no punk mixed with the emo on here. They are straight on pop/rock in the vein of The Julianna Theory. They do like to rock out but there is very little loud screaming. The music is very anthemic in nature. It wouldn't be hard to imagine Slow Coming Day performing these songs in a festival or stadium setting. Consider this band a likely candidate to go all the way. Their songs bleed honesty and their sound is quite unique. They just need to stay focused and welcome changes along the way.
