Talib Kweli had better watch his back. Not in the sense of East Coast / West Coast hip hop but in the sense of pure lyrical skills. Kweli has been looked upon as one of the hottest new school rappers but Akrobatik just may jerk the tablecloth out from under him. Akrobatik comes to us from Boston, the same place that gave us Mr. Lif. In fact, you will hear him on Mr. Lif's groundbreaking I Phantom. He has been a fan of hip hop for many years and is bound and determine to make a name for himself. His style is smooth and the samples are fresh. Akrobatik's whole premise behind calling his debut album Balance is to establish a balance in life: Black and white, party and politics, gangster and grown-up. This is one thing that has indeed been missing in hip hop music. The final product is a very uplifting and positive message that he delivers in a sly manner. Feature contributions on Balance include Mr. Lif, Da Beatminerz, Diamond D, and label-mate Fakts One but the highlight is indeed the skills of Akrobatik. Balance is a killer debut that should toss the hip hop world on it's ass. Pay attention.
