The Dragons have been rocking out for a number of years now but they really started getting some recognition with their last album, Rock 'n' Roll Kamikaze. This lead to a deal with indie Gearhead Records and more studio time for this heavy rock band. In February 2003 they entered Clear Lake Audio in Hollywood with producer Alex Reverberi and knocked out Sin Salvation in an amazing three day session. It was the goal of The Dragons to harness their live energy and although I have never witnessed a live show, Sin Salvation seems like they've done it. They sold out a SXSW showcase in March and now, with the release of this album are marked for some major recognition. This album rocks heavy, with little evidence of the band giving up aggressiveness for accessibility. Vocalist Mario Escovedo (yup, brother of Alejandro) has a voice that is totally geared to this kind of music and tracks like "Play For Keeps" really prove that. It's only a matter of time before The Dragons are discovered by one of the more prominent indies and get some decent recognition. Sin Salvation should make a few year end lists this year.
