Radio Mundial (which translates as World Radio) was formerly known as Alma Latina. The band is truly a world fusion band combining Puerto Rican, Chilean, and Peruvian cultures as well as western influences to come up with a funky latin flavored mix that sounds wonderful. The band chose New York City to call home and before long they had a very devoted fan following leading to a recording deal with Rx Records. La Raiz is their debut album and it is full of fun latin flavored songs that get you up and moving. Consider Afro-Cuban music with even more cultures thrown into the melting pot and you might come close to what Radio Mundial is all about. The album opens with the rambunctious title track, giving you a sense of where Radio Mundial is coming from. The next track "Cuarto Sin Ventanas" is a little more sexy in its delivery. Stay tuned after "Me Voy". There is a bonus track that has more rock than any of the rest of the songs on the album. This could be a hint at where Radio Mundial is heading. This is a forward thinking band that will appeal to more than just world music fans.
