Simply Saucer is group that could have been on top of the rock scene today had Cyborgs Revisited came out this year rather than 1989. That's right. This album was originally released back in 1989 by this Hamilton Ontario, psychedelic garage rock band. But even more amazing was that Simply Saucer was actually only together in the 1970s. It wasn't until 1989 until any of their recordings made it onto vinyl. Listen to Cyborgs Revisited with an open mind. Remember that there may be loads of bands that do this type of music but Simply Saucer was, most likely, an influence to all the bands that you heard doing these. The band takes in influences like Velvet Underground, The Stooges, 13th Floor Elevators and mix them all up to come up with some very interesting music. Most songs break out into big jam sessions with synthesizers and scratchy guitars but they still hold the initial sound together. If this album was to be done by any band today most would look at them as imitators but seeing that this material is over 25 years old it's quite the contrary. Simply Saucer was one of those bands that just couldn't make people see their way of thinking and ultimately folded. The album seems to lose it's charm when you get to the bonus material but it is thanks to Sonic Unyon that this album is available today. Great for archivists.
