Trouser Jazz is a funky slab of just what a DJ is capable. Andy Carthy (aka. Mr. Scruff) is no stranger to the cut and paste style that has become the mantra for Ninja Tune artists. In fact, Trouser Jazz is the second full-length and follows 5 EP’s on the label. Listening to Trouser Jazz though, doesn’t really make you think that Andy is cutting edge but what it does do is get your body moving. On tracks such as “Come On Grandad you can’t help but at least nod your head to the funky beat. There are bottom heavy tracks like “Shelf Wobbler that really get to your inner senses. “Beyond is a track that sounds like it’s straight from the movies with the vocal prowess of Homelife’s Diva Seaming To. The cut and paste pastiche that is Ninja Tune is not as up front on Trouser Jazz as other releases. Instead, Mr. Scruff decides to focus on getting you moving. Other feature artists include Andy Kingslow, Sneaky, Niko, and Braintax. Put Trouser Jazz on and chill out with your favorite beverage. Before you know it, you will be dancing with yourself and have no shame about it. Mr. Scruff will have a hard time topping Trouser Jazz.
