The Stills are a brand new band originally from Montreal but have recently relocated to New York City. Now, I'm not sure but I think there is a hotbed of activity in New York with bands that sound vaguely familiar to the sound of The Stills. Was this intentional? Did the New York sound come to The Stills or did The Stills go to New York? I'm thinking the latter but before I bog you down with Interpol and other comparisons here I have to tell you that the Stills are good. Very good in fact. It's not always easy to get a feel for a band with a 4 song EP but Rememberese is one of those really diverse ones that showcases just what a band has going for them. There are elements of 80's new wave, that's where the Interpol comparisons jump in. The band has a very good ear for good pop music and Tim Fletcher has the perfect voice for this type of music. Their relocation to New York has been deemed unnecessary by this reviewer. They would have been discovered either way. I am very eager to hear their full-length when it comes out this fall.
