Entombed has been around for 14 releases in the U.S.A.. Inferno marks their second release for Music For Nations, their first being the newly directed Morning Star. For a band that has clocked this much time together (a few lineup changes over the years) they still manage to change and shift to give fans something new. Inferno starts off with "Retaliation", a track that proves Entombed needs to be taken seriously. For a band that was once on Sony, they still haven't really got the proper recognition. Sure, the underground metal fans eat them up but that's pretty much as far as Entombed has made it. Groove ladened tracks like "Nobodaddy" give Entombed a fresh feel, one that is accessible for more people than their death-metal fanbase. Or how about a piano interlude simply called "Intermission"? They seem to be hitting on more of a southern metal ala Pantera or maybe even Slayer on this album. It is a welcome shift as one band can only do so much death metal screaming before a vocal chord goes. You don't have to worry about heaviness thought because Entombed still pack a punch behind pretty much every guitar riff and every vocal spitted out. While not quite as impressive as Morning Star, Inferno does stay on the same path keeping fans of Entombed in tow.
