Timo Maas - Music For The Maases 2
Timo Maas is back with his second edition of Music For The Maases, his highly acclaimed mix CD. This time around Timo has opted for a little more mainstream songs to add his flair to. The album kicks off with Kelis singing "Young Fresh and New". It is a really poppy track but Timo manages to get under it and lift it to a new level. Some of the other artists that Maas remixes here include Garbage ("Breaking Up The Girl"), Moloko ("Familiar Feelings"), Fatboy Slim ("Star 69"), BT ("Never Gonna Come Back Down"), Moby ("We Are All Made Of Stars"), and Placebo ("Special K"). He even throws on one of his own originals, "Unite", and it stands up to the other artists on the CD. The album seems a little weak near the midsection but levels out closer to the end. The Moby and Placebo remixes are fun and play with the original to the point of non-recognition. One of the crappiest things about this disc, though, is it is all contained on one track. The only way to move it onto my iPod is to transfer it all as one track. No skipping songs or choosing favorites, you have to listen to the whole album at once. This is a big enough issue that I am docking a whole point for it.
