Is it just me or is Christian Rock having a rebirth (pun intended)? Next in line is Number One Gun, a rock band from Chico, CA that has been touring with a few Tooth and Nail bands over the past few years gaining a fairly respectable fan base. The group, consisting of Jeff Schneeweis, Jordan Mallory, Ben Tietz, and Trevor Sellers, recorded an EP titled Forever in their garage in August of 2002. They toured this EP and sold quite a few copies on their own. During the tour the A&R dude for Salvage Records heard them and offered them a deal. As quite a few of the Christian Rock bands out there are doing, Number One Gun have opted for the punk/emo style and do it quite effectively. While this genre is getting bogged down with imitators, there are still some valid musicians trying to make a go of emo. Number One Gun is impressive and prove to be accessible enough to actually warrant some radio play. Their songs are very catchy and Jeff's vocals are very mature for the band only being around such a short time. Jeff explains that the album theme is summed up in the title. "When you make mistakes you just have to face it, learn from it and get on with life. God has given us the resources to deal with any situation we are put in. He gives us hope, and a way out. That's really what the album is all about."
