I stand here dumbfounded, wondering why people haven't taken notice of Stretch Arm Strong. I think the key to the strength of Stretch Arm Strong is that they stick to their primary values and don't deviate from their hardcore music. Sure, they invite some guests vocalists on Engage like Geoff Rickly and Ian Larrabee but they are still straight ahead hard-fucking-core. One big difference is that Stretch Arm Strong is so bloody happy. I think that's where the name "posi-core" comes from, positive hardcore. With lyrics like "Gaining comfort through uncertainty" on "Rising Again" one cannot help but feel a cuddly hug from these 5 guys. But for those hardcore purists, you need to listen to an album like Engage before you judge what this band is all about. This band is as hard, if not harder, than bands like Poison The Well and Madcap. I'm sure they have a live show that rivals those bands too. They have a heart as big as Nebraska with a sound as huge as the entire state of Texas. Engage is an album that needs to be heard, so if you are one of the skeptical then you need to drop what your doing and head down to your local indie music store to check out Stretch Arm Strong. Favorite track - "Perception of Energy".
