I have to admit that I have never been the biggest Rufus Wainwright fan in the past. Yes, I have both of his previous albums but I have only been totally impressed with a couple of songs on either album. I don't know if I'm growing up and maturing but Want One hits me in all the right places. It's not like there is just one or two songs that stick out on this one (last album it was "Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk"). The whole thing grabs me. Did Rufus change his style at all or maybe I'm growing into his music a little more? Want One starts of with a grand song called "Oh What A World" with full orchestration going on. It starts of very gentle and then builds up to the climax. Then Rufus hits on my favorite track on the album, one called "I Don't Know What It Is" and in fact, I don't know what it is that has me drooling over this album and not his previous ones. Is it the arrangements or did he tone down his voice so it's not quite as annoying? Anyway, Want One is a fine album that people who previously did not enjoy Wainwright junior's output should give a chance. Want One? Actually I'll buy a case.
