Now that Kieran Hebden is somewhat famous from his Four Tet project (on just about everyone's year end best of list last year), Fridge might get a little more recognition. Fridge, at one point was signed to the Polygram affiliate Go-Beat records but subsequently was dropped. Eph never even saw a proper Stateside release. That is until now. Now that they have the ultra cool Temporary Residence supporting them, they have chosen to re-release everything that was put out on Go-Beat onto this double CD package. Included are the critically lauded EPH album as well as a couple harder to get EPs called Kinoshita Terasaka and the Of EP, plus a couple remixes. This is a deal without even stating the skill involved in this project. As I said, this is Kieran's other project and I should mention that it was also his first, Four Tet being a "side project". While Fridge's music is mostly electronic, it still maintains an organic feel to it with some live instrumentation. Sure, all the songs are instrumentals but if you look beyond that and just use Eph as background music then it is sure to increase the ambience in any room. I found myself a little more taken with disc 1, (Eph), and rarely listen to the second disc but there are moments on the second disc worthy of the occasional listen. Check this one out then go back and find Happiness.
