Patrick Forge and Christian Franck treat us to another Da Lata album and this one may just top their debut, Songs From The Tin. The album starts off with the much hyped single, "Serious" and it's probably one of the most fun tracks on the album. Vocals are provided by Bembe Segue and Mamani Keita. A brief rhythm break is provided with "Breathe" just before they launch into "Alice (No Pais Da Malandragem)", a song that could be the background for a Brazilian spy movie. "Reeling" has one of the most dance influenced beats going on with Jhelisa Anderson singing, putting a lot of today's divas to shame. There are some heavily groove influenced tracks like the awesome "Firefly". It makes me want to get up and groove. But it's not all like that. Check out "If U Don't Know" for a little romance. It's a gentle latin-tinged track that makes you fall in love with Da Lata. Some people may feel that the Brazil/latin thing has gone way to far. Give Da Lata the chance it deserves and you may find a new beat to groove to. This is fun stuff and my biggest complaint has to be that it's over before you are satisfied. The album is done in 36 minutes.
