Here's Koop, taking the easy way out of a follow-up album. Instead of issuing that impending follow-up to a somewhat successful album, they have opted for the remix treatment. And if you like the original Waltz For Koop then you are bound to get into the Alternative Takes. I am actually surprised at how little these tracks vary from the originals. I don't know if it's a bit of a cop-out on the remixer's part but it seems a little lackluster. If you are new to Koop, go with the original Waltz for Koop. It's a nice down-tempo, jazzy album that really is a mood setter. This one has a few highlights, my favorite being Markus Enochson's remix of "Summer Sun". Hopefully the Koop boys are hard at work on a new album. It's long overdue.
