Ah, Brazil. I have never been but if you can get over the impressions of all the drug cartels you get a vision of tropical beauty. Rainforests and coastal ranges are abundant in Brazil. One of the most interesting facets of Brazil has to be the music though. Home of so many original music styles such as the Bossa Nova and Samba, the music of Brazil is trying to break out into mainstream western influenced music. While Latin music has already succeeded with this, Brazilian music is still a gem that you have to reach out and look for. There are so many great bands and compilations coming our way from Brazil that it's amazing that it hasn't happened yet. Tribalistas marks the union of three of Brazil's own superstars Arnaldo Antunes, Carlinhos Brown and the most recognized, Marisa Monte. Just to give you an idea of their status, this album has already sold over 1 million copies in Brazil alone! What's all the buzz about? Well, once you hear Marisa's beautiful voice there really is no turning back. Tribalistas is an album that takes time but I guarantee that once you find the charm in it's subtlety you will be checking back in 10 years later. This is indeed an international album that will stand the test of time. With all three musicians contributing, really, how could they go wrong. They've all got great voices and above all, they all have deep respect for each other and what they bring to the table.
