Sevendust - Seasons
After many years of perseverance, Sevendust is actually getting the respect that they deserved. With their last release, they saw a couple charting singles. Now with the release of Seasons, the single "Enemy" has already climbed up the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Upon release, Seasons hit the number 1 spot on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart. This is one deserving band that has always had a grassroots ethic. They have built up their fanbase over 4 very strong albums (their first still being my favorite). Sevendust is a band that has never even jumped on any bandwagons. Their music is heavy and yet still accessible. Seasons could be their shining moment too. I have always thought that their self-titled debut was their best album but Seasons is almost a return to form. Songs like "Face To Face" and "Suffocate" are pummeling and other tracks like "Broken Down" are actually quite accessible. It provides a nice mix of heavy and not so heavy. They had some success with "Angel's Son" so they also included a ballad on Seasons. This one is called "Skeleton Song", a track that is bound to sell a few thousand copies of the album for them. Lajon and company still have what it takes, changing slightly with the times. I think they are going to have to make a drastic change in their next album to keep fans happy though. The case of too many similar albums is about to nip them in the ass if they aren't careful. I just want to be able to turn on the radio and hear Sevendust, that's all.
