Madrid - Warm Waters
Madrid is a new group from Niagra Falls, Ontario. Basically Madrid is a duo consisting of Adam Perry and Duncan Christie. After releasing a 10-track demo in 1999 the moved to Toronto and found a drummer named Eric Lightfoot. Now with a little more live instrumentation they were ready to create Warm Waters. While comparisons to Air and Royskopp may be instant, one thing that that comparison doesn't address is the organic feeling that Madrid is able to reflect on their album. The album starts out ever so gentle with a track aptly titled "Warming". It brings you slowly into the album, allowing the warm sounds to completely envelope you. Then, one of the best songs on the album is upon you. "Stereostar" really shows Madrid's full potential as swirling noises wrap all around you and take you off to another dimension. Then they move into "Campfiring", a guitar oriented track that has even more life to it. With "Wondres" we are again taken away to Madrid's own world. This music is not for people who are looking for in your face music. Instead, for people looking for that perfect background music to fade away to. If you are at all interested in the mellower side of electronic beats, you need to seek out this album. I believe it's available on the Maple Music site (http://www.maplemusic.com).
