One band that was sadly forgotten about in the whole creative emo genre was a band called Knapsack. They only released three albums in their too short career but within those three, two of them are considered classics in the punk/emo world. One of those albums is This Conversation Is Ending Starting Right Now. If you have never experienced Knapsack, this is, in my opinion, their finest moment. It's one of those albums that sends shivers up my spine every time vocalist Blair Shehan hits one of those loud, shrill notes. I've put this album on for friends and as expected, they fall in love with it right away. These guys, along with Samiam (whose guitarist happens to be on this album) are the godfathers of emo, as far as I'm concerned. Gentle tracks like 'Balancing Act' co-exist beside beside heavier tracks like "Cinema Store". When an album starts out with as strong a song as "Katherine The Grateful", you know you are in for a treat. Since reviewing this album and dusting off the case, I have listened to it about 20 times. I'm actually not sure if I can put it back on the shelf. And then I just listened to the title track and it kicks. I am so happy to see Blair return to the stage with his new project, The Jealous Sound. Maybe now he will get the recognition that he deserves.
