Rounder has taken it upon themselves to re-release one of the more eclectic Christmas albums ever released. If you are not familiar with Leon Redbone's vaudeville style of singing then you are in for a treat. Besides 2001's Anytime, Leon hasn't really released much in the last little while. That's OK because his old stuff stands the test of time. Case in point, Christmas Island was originally released 1987 and it sounds like a classic. It contains more than just a few Christmas standards. He dives into tracks like "White Christmas", "Frosty The Snowman", "Toyland", "Let It Snow", "Blue Christmas", and "I'll Be Home For Christmas". Some of the highlights are the rarer Christmas songs like "Christmas Ball Blues" and the title track. Dr. John can be found on "Frosty The Snowman". Terry Waldo is on "Christmas Island" and "Let It Snow". It fits in the CD changer great during the Christmas season. If you are a longtime Redbone fan, then you probably already have the original Christmas Island. This one does contain an extra track called "Kitty Cats' Christmas", a Redbone original.
