It's been a while since I've checked in with the former Mule front man, P.W. Long. Actually, it's been since 1997's totally impressive We Didn't See You On Sunday since I heard anything from the man. He has actually taken a little bit of a break, moving away from his Reelfoot band and choosing to go solo instead. Remembered is his new offering as the simple solo artist and he's as raunchy as ever. If you have never heard P.W. Long or his Mule project, you should be prepared for the best blues that is more unconventional than most blues ever has been. Long sings some of the best drinking songs ever like the self confessional "Better" ("I should have done better"). I know the old P.W. may never be accepted into the blues world but that is not going to stop this dedicated man from plugging away at his booze soaked music. There is just something about him that you believe, a blatant honesty that sounds so good coming from his guitar and vocals. Although he has always reminded me of someone from the deep south, Long actually calls Michigan home. He'll never be a hero but to many, this man is a god.
