My ears are still ringing from listening to my first Curl Up And Die experience, Unfortunately We're Not Robots and that was almost 2 years ago. They released an EP earlier this year on Status Records that I managed to miss but back with Revelation, they are releasing their second EP in the same year. That would be But The Past Ain't Through With Us. Kurt Ballou of Converge fame takes the production helm and stretches them out further than their debut in only four songs. Only four songs but the best is reserved until the 14 minute opus at the end of the EP. The first three tracks seem like they were just leftovers from their debut but it's this last track that makes me think that Curl Up And Die are onto new and braver things. The three heavy tracks are damn heavy and do make your ears ring if you are wearing headphones (recommended). The fourth track entitled "God Is In His Heaven, All Is Right With The World" is a bit of a progressive track in the vein of maybe Neurosis but with even more depth. It could easily have been split into about three individual songs but it is fine the way it is. It keeps you guessing. I will be interested to see where Curl Up And Die move next.
