ELE_K* is a blossoming female singer/songwriter coming our way from Eastern Canada. Her real name is Elizabeth Powell and I have no idea where she came up with a name like ELE_K* or even how to pronounce it, for that matter. She has been seen singing for the eclectic rock band, Doppelganger but has decided to try things on her own. On her debut album, she reminds me a lot of Edie Brickell with a bit of a whiney voice. Don't mistake whiney for bad. Her vocals work wonders and her songwriting is really impressive for being her solo debut. Her voice may sound like Brickell but the arrangements are more along the lines of a rock oriented Bjork or Morcheeba. Never dull with a voice like that. ELE_K* is different enough in the female vocalist area to make people notice. I can see her voice getting on some peoples nerves, like on "Sous-Titre" but Elizabeth is worth checking out.
