This album was not what I had expected. The cover depicts a Japanese garden looking all peaceful and serene and yet the music on the album is very western influenced downtempo. The album is similar to Kriztal's series Vintage Chill but Sakura Aural Bliss is a little softer and not as much jazz influence here. Nik Weston has been a DJ for a number of years and he has spun pretty much worldwide. This particular album is a bunch of Japanese underground artists that he has come across. It's quite refreshing to hear an album of this quality come from unknown artists. The only artist that I am familiar with on Sakura Aural Bliss is United Future Organization and they are anything but mainstream. Nik has done a fine job in collecting these rare pieces and compiling a very cohesive downtempo or chill album. You can't really pull any particular favorite out of the album because the songs flow together so well. Sure, I got something unexpected but the album really did impress me.
