13 piece collective made up of various Montreal based bands like Godspeed, Exhaust, Hrsta, and others. These people were holed up in an old, felling down apartment in Montreal (where you can actually hear the house in some quit segments creaking away) and recorded for five days. What they have ended up with is more a soundscape than an actual album. Songs (or tracks would be a better name for them) fade in and out making the album seem like a whole rather than made up of parts. The album ended up being 60% improvised and 40% composed turning the drones into much more than that. I couldn’t really get into the album until I put my headphones on at bedtime and allowed the sounds to lull me into a disturbing sleep. There are some samples of a man talking but it really fits into the songs that they use it in. It really is a haunting record that is as lovely as it is scary. The packaging is just as beautiful and haunting with its 24-page booklet and the lovely full-colour gatefold heavy paper jacket. Be patient because this is one album that really grows on you over time.
