It's been a long time since I have had a Scooby Snack. Obviously apparent, The Fun Lovin' Criminals haven't had one since 1996 either. While the guys in FLC have gained quite a following in Europe, they have failed to remain relevant in North America. I'm sure if you asked anyone here if they have heard of FLC, they wouldn't know anything besides "Scooby Snacks". Welcome To Poppys is actually their third album since their hit (if you include their cover album Mimosa) and there may just be a possibility for another hit. The album starts of strong with some booty shakers, "Too Hot" and "Stray Bullet" but in today's music world you need to make that booty shaking memorable. It sounds almost like the guys are reaching to Stereo MCs for some influence here. That's not a bad thing but Huey's voice just isn't diverse enough to warrant someone going out of their way to find these songs. I found the track "Got Our Love" quite humorous. Huey tries on his best Curtis Mayfield impression but unfortunately fails miserably. There are a couple worthwhile songs on the collection but as an album it is really lacking. Especially for an established group like Fun Lovin Criminals.
