Earlier this year Britta Phillips and Dean Wareham released a soft pop album entitled L'avventura. An old buddy of Wareham, Pete Kember (Sonic Boom, Spacemen 3) asked if he could rework some of these tracks. He joins forces with the unequivocal Toni Visconti who has produced the likes of David Bowie, The Strangles and T. Rex to rework some of the tracks from L'avventura. It's actually quite an improvement on the album. The original album was good but seemed somewhat generic. Sonic Boom and Toni's additions really make all the difference here. You really can't deny Britta's sultry and sexy voice but when it gets the added treatment of these arrangements, it comes across even more prominent. If you fully enjoyed L'Avventura then you most definitely need to investigate Sonic Souvenirs. If L'Avventura scared you off, maybe you too should investigate this album. It really makes all the difference.
