John Constant and Corey Butler started God Drives A Galaxy when they found similarities in their alt-pop influences. They are based in Austin Texas and have started their own label to release their material. While God Drives A Galaxy isn't ground breaking, it is quite inspired and shows some quality musicians at work. The music on Pale Blue Dot (their 3rd release to date) is quite varied. I hear a big influence by Velvet Underground. On the song "Darling" it is so obvious. The track "Unwound By A Silver String" really reminds me of earlier Radiohead. I think it is mostly John Constant's vocals but the arrangements are kind of similar as well. The music is fairly gentle and never really gets too rambunctious. Arrangements are well thought up and make God Drives A Galaxy worth hearing. Pale Blue Dot may not be an easy album to track down but if you happen to find it anywhere you might do yourself a favor and check it out.
