Franz Ferdinand is a new art-rock band from Glasgow and Darts Of Pleasure is our first glimpse into the band's retro sound. I'm hoping that this isn't another (C)Rapture fiasco where they put out a totally impressive single but can't follow it up with a substantial album. The band has been rehearsing for a couple years in their abandoned warehouse dubbed the Chateau. They were found out and signed to Domino records and recorded a few songs for this EP/Single. While the guys in Franz Ferdinand (note: nobody in the band is named Franz Ferdinand. The name was chosen from a historic figure. Do some research.) have similarities to some of the retro rock style of bands like Interpol and maybe even England's Libertines, they are a little more fun than these comparisons. There are only three tracks on this EP, "Darts Of Pleasure" (a great choice for a single), the sporadic "Van Tango", and the evil sounding "Shopping For Blood". They all have their own merits and showcase some great original music styles. I look forward to checking out their full-length album.
