I don't know what it is about the Liars but I love them. Everything about them I should hate. Songs that go nowhere, cryptic lyrics, wanky samples that are just there to satisfy the Liars self-indulgence, but it all seems to work. The Liars is an art-rock group for the new millennium for sure. Now for some of the song titles on They Were Wrong - "There's Always Room On The Broom", "Flow My Tears The Spider Said", and "We Fenced Our Houses With The Bones Of Our Own". That's basically what you get. Most of the songs seem to have a witch theme to them. I'm not sure if The Liars are experimenting with Wicca but the songs all stem around it. This album isn't near as immediate as They Threw Us In A Trench but even after as few as 2 listens it really starts to grow on you. They Were Wrong, So We Drown is completely fucked up, but man, I can't get enough of it. It's the Liars purpose in life to leave their fans (and others) scratching their heads and that's exactly what they have accomplished here.
