As you probably guessed from my previous Vanguard review I am not a very big Finley Quaye fan. I have a hard time believing that even many fans enjoyed Vanguard. There was a possibility for an EP but filler really got in the way of a decent album. Finley has obviously learned from his mistake and it appears that Sony has forgiven him as evidence of still putting out his albums. I wouldn't doubt that the track "Overcome" is a little to do with that. Much More Than Much Love is a very decent album. Not outstanding by any means but listenable from beginning to end. One freaking awesome song is called "Dice". William Orbit has a good bit of influence on this track and having Beth Orton backing Quaye up make this probably the song of his career. Finley's always been all over the map but have a listen to "Lovers Return". It sounds like an old country song being sung around a campfire. Then he follows it up with "Face To Face" with his best Bob Marley accent. Oh, and then there is "Now & Forever" that is a total old school reggae track and it's not the only one. I think there is some talented lurking beneath Quaye's surface. He just needs to focus and maybe take a little more time between releases allow him time to come up with the quality material. Tracks like "Waiting For You" are so disposable.
