A Band Of Bees is a new group that formed on The Isle Of Wight a few years back and dropped the bomb debut that was Sunshine Hit Me. While comparisons such as the Beta Band are so obvious, people may fail to see the quiet brilliance that this duo has. Band of Bees are definitely psychedelic at the best of times. Their music is never really rocking but instead swirling in a cloud of joy that you can't clear your head of. The crazy fun starts with one of the most addictive songs in recent history called "Punchbag" that begins with what sounds like the theme from a children's TV show. They get all lowdown and groovy on "Angryman", another one of the albums highlights. "Binnel Bay" sounds like a tropical oasis where a few too many drinks have been had. And then my favorite track on the album is the low-key "This Town". Paul Butler and Aaron Fletcher prove that their multi-instrumental talents are a force to be reckoned with. There are a few lowpoints on Sunshine Hit Me but as a whole, Band of Bees has totally succeeded on their debut.
