Clouddead - Ten
cLOUDDEAD impressed a load of people with their debut album, but they also confused more than they impressed. Nobody really knew how to take this self-proclaimed hip hop act. With Ten cLOUDDEAD aren't out to change that impression at all. It's just as messed up as their self-titled debut was. "The Wood Man and his splintering self, the Wooden Woman and her hollowing out" is the first repeated lyric that you hear on track 1, "Pop Song". Imagine if Oliva Tremor Control had a run in with DJ Shadow. That's kind of along the lines of cLOUDDEAD. Their music is totally quirky with lyrics like "Strawberry in an ostrich throat". Hardcore hip hop fans should stay away from cLOUDDEAD. This group is more suited towards people who may like Cex or something along those grounds. The samples are cutting edge and the lyrics are brilliant and whacked at the same time. Some of their music is a little abstract but for the most part Ten is maybe a little more accessible than their debut. I totally enjoyed it anyway.
