Fire Divine is a new signing for Deep Elm and they first debuted on the label's This Is How I Kill My Tears label sampler available free on their website. They live in Marleton, New Jersey and are comprised of former members of The June Spirit and A Life Once Lost. Their music fits into the punk/emo classification quite easily. This four song EP is fairly upbeat and incorporates a great singing voice mixed with a not so great screaming voice. "Clark and Rightwood" is our introduction to the band and it is a little along the boring side of things. It doesn't quite have enough punches in it with today's standards. "Reputation Outlives Application" is a little better with a little more energy involved. But it gets a little uninspired on "We Ride On Sumbeams" as well. I know this is their debut so I will reserve judgement for a full-length album. In the meantime, you might do good by passing on this EP.
