Antelope - Crowns/The Flock Single
When a label states that an artist is one of their favorites I'm always a little skeptical. I got this Dischord release and the tear sheet stated that they were an office favorite but everyone was pissed that they only record two songs at a time. Well, here are their two latest songs and they do make one wish that this was a full length album. Justin Moyer is also in El Guapo but Antelope is not as angular as his other band. "Crowns" is a straight forward post-punk song with a pretty cool guitar riff introducing us to Antelope. Yeah, it is a little Fugazi-ish but it's pretty darn cool. It almost sounds like Midnight Oil covering a Dischord band. "The Flock" kicks it up a notch with a more aggressive front to it. Antelope fits the Dischord sound very well, as well as expanding it a little. It will be interesting to see if Antelope do indeed do a full-lenth. They are worthy of that for sure.
