The state of Asian Underground is flourishing. State of Bengal adds to the list of quality releases that incorporate all the middle east instruments into it's electronic mix of things. The main man behind the State is DJ Sam Zaman who somehow manages to seamlessly integrate tablas and beats without hesitating. It's not just dance music with Asian influences thrown in, you actually feel that this music is meant to be. Sam has put notches on his belt be remixing for the likes of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Massive Attack. He has also appeared on Talvin Singh's Anokha compilation. Visual Audio is a trip worth taking. You won't be disappointed. Cultures cross for a reason and Sam's pure intention is to allow people to hear his native music while providing a cool soundtrack for a Saturday night.
