The Lancasters are old school punks from Vancouver. With this being their debut album, they hope to make a splash on the Canadian and possibly North American punk scene with their nod to traditional UK punk. They take the political fueled movement that started back in the late 70s and recreate it for todays purpose. Do they succeed? Success is hard to judge. The music is good but I, being a longtime punk fan, can't help but feel this has all been done before. I know punk is not a cutting edge genre. It's more about the statement than anything and in that sense, The Lancasters have indeed succeeded. Their songs are solid and all have a message (my favorite being "The Future"). The intro and followup in "Control" kicks ass. With that said, I think I will make a point of checking out their live show. Alexander & Gore is one of the better punk debuts I have heard in some time.
