Leatherface is really making a name for themselves. It's not because they are the most accessible punk band because lead vocalist Frankie Stubbs is not the easiest vocalist to wash down. In fact it was only after the second or third listen that I started to gain an appreciation for what I was listening to. UK based Leatherface has been on the punk scene now for 16 years and show no signs of letting up. You may remember some of their more influential albums like Cherry Knowle or Fill Your Boots. They had a brief hiatus a few years ago and released their first album as the reunited Leatherface entitled Horsebox. They were back. And to slam that home, they announce Dog Disco, one of this years hardest hitting punk albums. The album kicks off with the happy-go-lucky track called "Hoodlum". You get an idea with this track the style of gruff vocals that Frankie uses. After you get used to it it is really a great and original voice. The guitars are loud and fast at times but there is enough melody to Leatherface to turn the average punk fan into a Leatherface fan.
