With the release of Compromises, two new introductions are made: first to Appleton Wisconsin's Number One Fan and second to Pat's Record Label. Pat Magnarella is not new to the music business. He has been a rock band manager for ages but is now making the move into the record label business. Number One Fan is a stab at a perfect emo band. Compromises is a great album if you like Jimmy Eat World. As a debut, I'm really surprised that Number One Fan could pull an album this tight off. I think it is most likely due to the extensive touring that they have been doing over the past year. They have also spread like wildfire on the internet, with MP3 trading, an argument for free music. Their music is melodic with dramatic flair, all the requisites for a good emo band. Nicholas Ziemann's vocals are a perfect fit for this type of music and the songwriting stands up very well. I think this band should gain a lot of Number One Fans with this album. It's as good as a debut can be.
