Subhumans - Live In A Dive
The Subhumans were originators. It's kind of hard to call a seminal punk band imitators. Nope, this group has been mimicked and stolen from for the last few decades and now, with the release of Live In A Dive, they are claiming back what is rightfully theirs. Originally around between 1980 and 1985, the Subhumans were one of the most original punk bands to emerge from the UK. They were a monster and even though they were never as popular as some of the other punk bands of their time, they were indeed influential. If you go to a punk gig today, there will be undoubtedly at least one Subhumans t-shirt. In 1998 the crew decided to give it another go and toured occasionally and also released an album of old unused songs. In April 2003, the Subhumans played a sold out show in Corona, CA and it was chosen for the material to be released as this Live In A Dive album. It's very interesting to hear the audience singing along with almost every song, proving that people have never really forgotten about the band. They crank through 26 classic tracks which clock in at just over an hour. It is essential for any die-hard fan and serves as a great introduction to a seminal punk band. They are slowly working on getting an album of new material together but when you have classics as strong as these, it's hard to justify.
