When I received this disc from Temp Res I wasn't sure what I was getting. The packaging is a manilla type paper with a simple sketch of two ballrom dancers. From my research I found that Sybarite is actually an alias for a New Yorker known as Xian Hawkins and Sybarite is his outlet for IDM (Intelligent Dance Music). Sybarite is music that can't really be danced to but you can sit back and chill out to it very easily. This album is meant to be a soundtrack for a dark independent film called Kill Me Tomorrow and you can see the film progressing with Xian's great etheral electronica. Sybarite may not be for everyone but anyone who digs bands like Boards of Canada will surely find enjoyment in Music For A Film.
