The Latin Project was a group that was overseen because of not sending the complete package. It was sent in a clear jewel box and easily overlooked as an amateur group. Let this be a lesson for labels and artists alike. Please send the whole meal deal otherwise you may get overlooked. Anyway, The Latin Project is one that deserved a look back even if it is a year late. Jez Colin and Matt Cooper are a couple of English musicians that thought they would put together an album of Latin/Electronica fusion and have done a great job with Nueva Musica. You may wonder what is left to be unturned in this area but along the way Cooper and Colin manage to find some amazing Spanish musicians, guitarists and horns are just the start. Listen to the keyboards on "Universal" for a start. One of the more funky tracks on the album is "Brazilian Love Affair". It gets going with a crazy bass sample and some Spanish man doing shout outs. It gets going nicely with a house feel and builds into some English vocals. The guitar on "Lei Lo Lai", the album opener is bloody amazing. There are some cases such as "Windows" where the duo looses focus but overall, Nueva Musica is a strong effort.
