If you are a Trans Am fan you will recognize the name Sebastian Thomson. He has released his first album with his new band The Frequency. It is quite a bit more rock oriented than Trans Am and he takes to adding vocals to it. Before you run away let me be the first to tell you that this music isn't half bad at all. Sebastian leans towards a bit of a Girls Against Boys feel with a lot of electro-clash references throughout. The end result gets pretty rocking on tracks like "Chicas". The songs are tight and sometimes evoke an image of an 80s band. If you are dead set against digital music then The Frequency is not going to change your view on that but if you are open to what can be done with the mixture of organic instruments and digital trickery you should seek out this album. Trans Am sort of hints in this direction but it seems that Sebastian had other ideas and was able to flesh them out. Listen to the mix of samples and bass lines in "Stop It". Sebastian has a great voice for this type of music as well. The band is filled out by Aaron Claxton, Julian Thomson and Grant Tenille. I wouldn't even be surprised if we see Sebastian focus more on The Frequency rather than his other band, Trans Am.
